As well as supporting UK and International talents in all fields of theatricality, Curve have a special devotion to supporting local talents in and around Leicester and Leicestershire. With this year’s studio offering, The Owl Who Came For Christmas (based on the book by John Hay and Garry Parsons and adapted for the stage by Chandni Mistry, Curve’s Creative Programmes Practitioner) has an abundance of Leicester talents both actors and technically.

Cara Nolan directs this fun packed children’s’ show. Nolan is also Curve’s New Work and Artist Development Producer. There’s delightful music by Jude Taylor and lyrics by Jude Taylor and Chandni Mistry. The choreography and movement director is Stacey McCarthy. Set, costume and puppetry design is by Abby Clarke and the lighting design is by Johnathan Payne. Sound for The Owl Who Came For Christmas is courtesy of sound designer Angel Rossell.

There are four brilliant actor musicians who all play varied roles much to the amusement of any audience. I expect their audiences will all be familiar with the story as the book is a best seller in the world of small children’s reading. Mary Bonam is Mum/Dog/Squirrel, Camille Burnette is Ethan/Rabbit/Rosie/Lee, Oliver Stanley plays Wildlife Guy/ Dad/Bruce/Reindeer and Annabelle Terry plays Lily/Fox.

For those who don’t know the story it features a little owl called Rosie. Poor Rosie has found herself a long way from home and misses the forest. So she somehow finds herself nesting in amongst the baubles on a Christmas tree in a family home. Would you believe that this sweet story is actually inspired by a true story of the real owl who lost her way. This looks a beautiful Christmas presentation for the young ones and a real introduction to the magic of theatre and it is selling out quickly. Book now.
