The Gruffalo
live on stage at Northampton’s Royal & Derngate this Christmas
Award-winning theatre company Tall Stories is delighted to bring Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved picture book The Gruffalo to Northampton’s Royal & Derngate for a Christmas run from Monday 13 December to Sunday 2 January.
The Gruffalo, published by Macmillan Children’s Book in 1999, was adapted for the stage by Tall Stories in 2001. Packed with songs, laughs and monstrous fun for children aged 3 and up and their grown-ups, the show has been delighting audiences around the world ever since.
Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood. Searching for hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the high-spirited Snake. Will the story of the terrifying Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there is no such thing as a Gruffalo – is there?

Hello folks,
We came to the show on the 27th 1pm showing.
I loved it and so did my lad. I have a tiny bit of feedback.
We didn’t know how to behave. we just booked it because it was the gruffalo live on stage.
It took me a good 15 mins to understand that we could shout, join in etc,
maybe a ‘warm up’ would help us understand what could really give you guys more atmosphere. the ‘1, 2, 3, 4 5’ shout would have been much more engaging if we knew this already.
I’m a trombone player so understand a bit about performance – you guys worked hard, the effects, humour and skills were terrific. Thank you
I hope this is useful
Matty
