Today I conducted a fabulous phone interview with none other than John Partridge who is currently starring as Emcee in the Bill Kenwright touring production of Kander and Ebb’s stage musical Cabaret. This show is currently on tour and plays at Curve 15-19 October 2019.
We spoke about his time performing in Germany with Cats and Rent, his thoughts on being the Emcee and how Cabaret reflects current social political concerns. We also talked about the sometimes proffered statement from critics to actors that they are ‘born to play’ that role.
Additionally we talked about Mr Partridge’s forthcoming first cookery book, There’s No Taste Like Home, which is on sale early April 2020 but can be pre-ordered here. We discovered his favourite German comfort food is Spätzle, a noodle type dish very popular in southern Germany and great with a cheese sauce.
We apologize that the sound quality isn’t always brilliant in the video below but we hope that you enjoy the content. Phil Lowe.
Why don’t you check out our five star review of Cabaret from its visit to Nottingham Theatre Royal.
