REGIONAL PREMIERE is coming to Leicestershire!
The newly formed SPOTLIGHT THEATRE GROUP & Singers, based in Hickling, Melton are bringing Forever Young to the MMC VENUE in MOUNTSORREL, Loughborough this summer.
The group formed in late 2025 and consist of a close group of friends from very experienced musical theatre and drama backgrounds.
They’ve come together to bring quality performances to local villages and towns in Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire whilst raising money for local charities. They’ve recently performed a sell out event in Hickling which raised over £750 for local charities and the Village Hall.
Led by their producer, Lisa Mills, The Spotlight Theatre Group perform staged revues, fund raising concerts, plays and shows and have a very busy and impressive line up for 2026 including two staged cabaret events in September at Long Clawson Village Hall and Grange Hall in Radcliffe-on-Trent as well as planning performances at Belton House and Harlaxton Manor. They’ll be giving staged concerts locally to raise money for church restoration projects and community theatre productions, with their summer show , Forever Young, being their main event.
Forever Young is the brainchild of award winning Swedish writer Erik Gedeon.
Erik was the pioneer of a new style of musical theatre called Song Drama.
The work’s been presented by theatres across Germany, South America, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Asia and by Norway’s national theatre for over 10 years.
The professional British version was adapted by Nottingham Playhouse in consultation with Gedeon, and was offered as the UK Amateur Premiere to Lisa back in 2017 when she took the production to The Derby Guildhall Theatre.
She’s therefore delighted that Erik has given permission once again for the Leicestershire Regional Premiere of Forever Young at The MMC Venue this July.
Forever Young offers a poignant observation of how elderly people still want to live life to the full, despite their frailties and physical limitations, but does this through visual comedy, humour and fantastic music. It’s message: You’re never too old to have fun!
It’s set in a retirement home for aging actors and musicians and gives a glimpse into an evening of fun and frolics when the nurse’s back is turned, with the residents plotting the downfall of the care home’s matron, Sister Sara! It’s got some great jukebox songs including Uptown Funk, I Will Survive, Barbie Girl, I Love Rock n Roll, Sex Bomb and Alphaville’s Forever Young, a number that’s recently been revived into a No1 dance track by David Guetta.
With stylish acting, physical comedy and a superb selection of songs, Forever Young is a fantastically fun night out for everyone.
