The Melton Musical Theatre Company proudly presents Shrek: The Musical, an unconventional fairytale adventure adapted for the stage by award-winning composer Jeanine Tesori with book and lyrics by David Lyndsay-Abaire.
The show is packed full of wit, charm, and fairytale fun! With a toe-tapping score and energetic dance numbers, this adaptation of the popular family-friendly film is set to be a joyful experience for all.
Our story starts in an overcrowded swamp, where Shrek sets out on a quest to rescue the princess and save his home. Along the way, we meet a chatty donkey, a short-tempered evil lord, a cookie with an attitude, and a feisty princess dreaming of true love.
The audience is invited to follow the unlikely hero, a big scary ogre, as he climbs to the tallest room of the tallest tower and grapples with the idea that true love conquers all. With the help of masterful puppetry, captivating characterisations, and big, bright, beautiful costumes and make-up, the audience will be whisked away into those all so familiar scenes from its animated counterpart.
Directed and choreographed by Bernice Rowan and musically directed by Rachael Wilson, it’s destined to be a heart-warming and quirky comedy musical, perfect for the whole family.
