Little Theatre Company are thrilled to present Young Frankenstein at The Brewhouse Arts Centre, Burton on Trent, this November. Comedy genius Mel Brooks – of “The Producers” fame – adapted his legendarily funny film, which starred Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman, into a brilliant stage creation.
Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of hunchbacked side-kick Igor and leggy lab assistant Inga, Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors.
The show opened on Broadway in 2007 and was nominated for numerous awards. In the UK it premiered in 2017 and ran for a year at the Garrick Theatre in the West End, starring Hadley Fraser and Ross Noble. The Guardian gave it a 5 star review, saying: “…glorious gags as Mel Brooks bolts together a monster hit. The horror-movie spoof is gleefully reanimated for the stage with even more jokes, superb set-pieces and barnstorming parody songs that stick a pitchfork into good taste.”
With such memorable tunes as “Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ On The Ritz,” Young Frankenstein is scientifically-proven, monstrously good entertainment.
