Promo: The Squire Performing Arts Centre Autumn line up

Nottingham’s The Squire Performing Arts Centre announces eclectic line up this Autumn and looks ahead to some exciting work that includes Folk, Psychics and Shakespeare!  

Set in the heart of inner-city Nottingham, The Squire Performing Arts Centre is a versatilecreative space for performing arts, creating a platform for all generations to explore the Arts, to inspire, captivate, engage and enrich the world through the power of performance and creative education.

This September the venue is excited to announce its programme of comedy, music, and special guests, ensuring that that there is something for everyone on offer at Squire PAC.

Anita Bush, Centre Manager of The Squire Performing Arts Space, said: “Our Autumn season sees us building on and developing our programming, and we are looking forward to welcoming some exiting performances and great artists to the venue. We pride ourselves on being a venue that offers artistic experiences to a range of audiences and not just your traditional cultural offers. We have Folk sensations Leveret, we have Leo Holding who will be delighting audiences with tales of his climbing experiences including his recent ascent Mount Roraima, the rain forest-engulfed South American plateau which inspired Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World! And a huge range of comedy from the likes of Scott Bennett and Tom Wrigglesworth.

For those Shakespeare lovers, we are delighted to welcome Impromptu Shakespeare who have been delighting audiences at the Edinburgh Fringe and who have appeared on BBC Shakespeare Live.”

Season highlights

Scott Bennett and Friends – 15th September
2021 British Comedian of the Year Finalist, the incredible Scott Bennett, recently made his ‘Live at the Apollo’ debut and is widely tipped in the industry as on the brink of the big time. This loveable rising star enthrals the crowd with his warm and engaging delivery, he is a Yorkshire live wire with an undeniable no nonsense logic, who has been busy entertaining people through the lockdown, with his ‘Stand Up From The Shed’ online show.

Leveret- 10th October 2022
Leveret is a unique collaboration between three of England’s finest folk musicians. Andy Cutting, Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron. Leveret’s music is not arranged in the conventional sense and the trio rely on mutual trust and musical interaction to create new settings of their repertoire in the moment, with no two performances alike.

Alfie Moore: Fair Cop Unleashed- 15th October 2022
Join BBC Radio 4’s cop-turned-comedian Alfie Moore for his latest stand-up tour show.  Fair Cop Unleashed is based on a dramatic real-life incident from Alfie’s police casebook. Relive with him the thrilling ups and downs of the night a mysterious clown came to town and more than one life ended up in the balance. It was no laughing matter – but this show certainly is! Enjoy Alfie’s unique brand of humour hilariously woven together with his personal insights into his life on the front-line of the police force.

Leo Houlding- Closer to the Edge- 16th October 2022
Leo Houlding is one of the world’s best climbers; big walls, Everest, triple peaks in as many days, you name it, Leo’s probably climbed it! With a brief overview of his life, Leo’s brand-new show will follow on from his previous tour (The Spectre Expedition, 2019) bringing audiences up to date with his audacious expeditions, primarily focusing on his more recent ascent Mount Roraima, the high, rain forest-engulfed South American plateau which inspired Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World!

Impromptu Shakespeare
With story and verse improvised in the moment, enjoy a riotous new Shakespeare play every time  performed by Impromptu Shakespeare’s whip smart cast. Packed with priceless wit, lyrical smarts, romance, and a dash of double-crossing, this leading ensemble do the Bard proud with a brand new one-act hit every time, inspired by audience suggestions.
