Looking ahead into Spring 2022, The Core at Corby Cube announces new shows including Lou Sanders, Soul Sisters: The Musical and The Gruffalo

have announced a busy Spring 2022 season, with an assortment of live music, theatre, family shows and comedy for audiences to enjoy.

This season provides shows for all the family including Northern Ballet’s Pinocchio, a show for ages three plus that re-tells the classic story through ballet. Join Mouse on a daring adventure through the deep, dark wood in The Gruffalo and soar into space with The Smeds And The Smoos, both adaptations from the classic picture books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. From the creators of Dinosaur World, see spectacular puppets brought to life in the magical world of Dragons And Mythical Beasts.

For comedy lovers, Corby favourite Jason Byrne returns alongside other panel show stars including Lou Sanders and Janey Godley. Sarah Millican also arrives in April for two sell-out shows. The monthly comedy night Screaming Blue Murder is back, plus a family-friendly comedy club on selected Saturday afternoons, Bangers & Mash.

There is a host of entertaining shows for theatre and musical lovers. Returning favourites and multi-award-winning theatre company New Old Friends are at it again with another instalment of their hugely popular ‘Crimes…’ series, Crimes, Camera, Action. From the producers of hit comedies Hormonal Housewives and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Soul Sisters: The Musical promises to be a musical rollercoaster that is fun, relatable and full of soul.

Gig-goers can feel nostalgic with The Supersonic ‘70s Show and 80s Mania, or enjoy popular tributes The Phonics and Adele: The Story So Far. ‘90s favourites Space visit The Core as part of a UK 50 date tour and popular contemporary Scottish traditional music band Skerryvore will bring a high energy show that will captivate audiences.

Local people and community groups have a huge amount on offer this season including a celebration award ceremony at the Corby Community Service Awards that will shine a light on Corby champions, individuals and organisations that made extraordinary efforts during the worst of the pandemic. Returning to The Core is Corby Festival Of Dance, Youth Brass 2000, Rutland Musical Theatre Company with Fiddler On The Roof. Plus The Big Dance, A Night At The Opera and the much-loved CATS pantomime will make its return, with the community group taking to the stage with Beauty and The Beast in January.

The Core’s Get Involved programme is packed this coming season, with lots of activities for children, young people and community members to take part in. Their home-grown community writers and theatre director’s group launch their new series of Virtual Reality plays Corby 360 on Friday 11 February at The Core. The team will be popping up throughout the town with VR headsets for the public to watch this exciting new work. Aspiring young actors aged 5 – 11 can sign up to join the Sparks theatre group whilst older theatre makers aged 12 – 19 can join Core Create or Core Comedians on Wednesday evenings. Project M is a brand new weekly music club for young people aged 12 and above. There is still time for audiences to book for the festive period. Under 6’s can meet Santa in Santa’s Magical Mystery Guest which runs until Christmas Eve. Opening on Friday 17 December the ground-breaking celebration of drag and pantomime come together in Sleeping Beauty starring Ru Pauls Drag Race Divina De Campo, drag legend Lola Lasagne and iconic Drag King Don One.
