Before today fans could only listen to the US cast recording of the Amélie musical or if you are weird like me, give the German cast live recording a go. Having reviewed the show in Leicester last year and viewed the show four times in total, my anticipation was more than fully rewarded when the Original London Cast Recording was released today. In fact I was there at one minute past midnight to listen to my pre-saved download!Phil Lowe

Our review of Amélie last year.

Oh man what a superb studio recording – every word is crystal clear – the orchestrations super lush – all the characters we have grown to love appear once again in our heads as we listen with total glee. All the cast give us the energy and love for the show that thousands witnessed live on stage.  I would say that the end result is not like being an audience member but strangely and beautifully like moving invisible amongst the cast on the stage itself, immersed in sharing all the joys and intimacy. It’s like being suddenly in love expressed through music and song. You might even shed a few tears of joy that the UK version of Amélie musical has been captured so wonderfully. I did. This is one soundtrack that will forever remind you of the importance and thrill of live theatre.
