Derby Theatre’s co-production with Octagon Theatre Bolton, Educating Rita, is now open ahead of its transfer to Derby Theatre from Friday 17 February to Saturday 11 March, and is already gathering fantastic feedback from audiences in Bolton.
Starring David Birrell and Jessica Baglow, Willy Russell’s award-winning comedy drama is an uplifting tale of self-discovery. Uninspired by his role teaching English to undergraduates and failing in his ambition to be a poet, Frank has turned to drink to cope with the monotony of his life. Until Rita walks into his office; a 29 year old hairdresser who has decided to earn herself an education. With Rita’s brash honesty and Frank’s deep intellect, each inspires the other to wake up to life in their own way.
