Director at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, Shona Powell says:

“2017 is a very special year, bringing us full cycle back to the Year of the Rooster in our thirteenth annual Chinese New Year celebration. This year we’re thrilled to commission Nottingham-based digital artist Barret Hodgson for our New Year spectacular ‘Jixiang’, to transform the south-side of our iconic Trent Building into a huge colourful canvas. There will be 6 different opportunities to see the projection over the course of two nights on 28 and 29 January. It promises to be a spectacular visual showcase inspired by both contemporary and traditional Chinese culture, incorporating elements of brush painting and calligraphy from Chinese Artist in Residence Jiang Hongsheng, and including some pre-recorded music from Ling Peng as well as other artists. There will be a few surprises along the way and of course the fabulous CSSA Dragon Dancers will be here!”
