A gift to inspire

Major arts and cultural organisations in Derby have joined forces with Barnardo’s, Derby City Council and Derbyshire County Council to give children in care the chance to experience live performance, film, and workshops in the city.

So far, customers have generously donated in excess of £22,500 to Plus One (including one single donation of £500 from one generous customer), across all of the venues, and we have provided over 1,000 opportunities to children in care, their carers and care leavers to enjoy the arts in Derby. At Derby Theatre itself, young people involved in the scheme have made over 600 visits to the Theatre all supported by our staff and Barnardo’s. We hope that people will continue to give generously so that more children can enjoy the wide range of arts activiy in Derby.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Donate a ticket for a child in care

When booking tickets either for Derby Theatre, Déda, QUAD or Sinfonia Viva you will be given the opportunity to contribute to the Plus One scheme.

We are working closely with Barnardo’s and other expert partners to ensure that the donated tickets are given to children in care and their carers, whether they are fostered or in children’s homes, in Derbyshire and Derby city. Every ticket donated through the scheme will go directly to these beneficiaries.

So far in 2015, hundreds of children and care leavers have enjoyed visits to see plays, take part in workshops and join the Youth Theatre.
